Mr. Arif Ali Shah Bukhari, Chancellor of KASBIT and Chairman of KASB Foundation had a formal meeting with former Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder of Germany, during which a very good understanding and rapport had developed between them at the YPO-WPO Global Leadership Conference in Istanbul, Turkey.
Mr. Bukhari had apprised the Chancellor about the successful implementation of the “FATA Children Scholarship Program” that was run by KASB Foundation with the support of the German Foreign Office to educate the children who were displaced because of the ever increasing violence in the FATA region. The German Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Michael Koch had appreciated and also taken very keen interest in the running of this program.
Realizing the importance of Pakistan, which will serve as the transit point in the new business order of the world to connect the Middle East, Afghanistan and the former Soviet Bloc countries, East Asia and more importantly China with the rest of the world, Chancellor Schroeder looked forward to the timely development of infrastructure in Pakistan to meet the challenges that would have to be met for the prosperity of Pakistan in particular and the South Asian Region in general.
Mr. Arif Ali Shah Bukhari who is also the Chairman of the Pakistan China Business, Cultural and Social Society, which serves to develop the social-cultural, economic and people to people contacts between Pakistan and China, invited Chancellor Schroeder on behalf of the society to visit Pakistan as a special guest speaker to inform its members about the vision he holds for the South Asian Region and the supportive role he could play on behalf of his country to which the Chancellor responded that he looked forward to do so whenever the right opportune allowed him to visit Pakistan.
At the YPO-WPO Global Leadership Conference in Istanbul, Turkey, Mr. Arif Ali Shah Bukhari, Chancellor of KASBIT and Chairman of KASB Foundation had a meeting with the British Prime Minister Tony Blair during which the geo-political situation of Pakistan was discussed. Mr. Bukhari had explained to Prime Minister Blair that there was great potential for improvement and modernization in Pakistan for which the way forward was through the prioritized provision of education to its masses through which the evils of illiteracy and violence would gradually be overcome.
Mr. Arif Ali Shah Bukhari, Chairman of KASB Foundation and Chancellor of KASB Institute of Technolgoy met Senator Bob Corker (R. Tennessee) Member of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee during his visit to the United States and discussed ways in which the mass transit system and infrastructure of Pakistan could be developed through the creation of a joint infrastructure development fund.
Mr. Arif Ali Shah Bukhari, Chairman of KASB Foundation and Chancellor of KASB Institute of Technolgoy met Governor Tim Kaine, Chairman, Democratic National Committee and Former Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia at the United State Department of State and discussed the areas of education and social affairs in Pakistan, which could be further developed with the cooperation of the United States.
During his visit to the United States, Mr. Arif Ali Shah Bukhari, Chancellor of KASBIT and Chairman of KASB Foundation, met Mr. Lawrence Bender, famed Hollywood producer of the recently released move “Countdown to Zero” and discussed way through which the wrongly held perceptions of Pakistan could be overcome. In this perspective, Mr. Bukhari invited Mr. Bender to personally visit Pakistan so that he could himself verify how peaceful the majority of Pakistanis are and how great a country Pakistan is so that if possible, he may be able to make a documentary picture to correctly portray Pakistan as a land of enlightened people who strive for peace just as much as citizens of all other peace loving countries do.
Mr. Arif Ali Shah Bukhari, Chancellor of KASBIT & Chairman of KASB Foundation met Mr. David S. Ferriero, Archivist of the United States at the National Archives Building in Washington D.C., and discussed ways by which the students of KASBIT would have e-access to the rich historical records of the United States.
Mr. Arif Ali Shah Bukhari, Member Board of YPO MENA (Middle East & Northern Region) and Chairman of KASB Foundation met Mr. Warren Rustand, ex-chairman of WPO and discussed the role that YPO/WPO could play to improve the economy of Pakistan and the development of better relationship with the United States during dinner at the State Department in Washington D.C.
